More About Laser
Laser treatments can be performed in the office with topical numbing cream, nerve blocks, or under iv sedation, depending on how aggressive you want to be with the radiofrequency energy. Of course, the more aggressive we are with the power, the better the results.
Together, the mechanical stimulus from the Microneedling and the thermal stimulus from the Radiofrequency pulses promote the production of new collagen in the dermis to improve skin tone, skin texture, and firmness over 3-6 months. One of the exciting features of Morpheus 8 is that it is safe on all skin types, including darker skin tones, with little risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) that we sometimes see with other resurfacing methods.
Depending on your goals for the Optimus treatment, we usually recommend 1 to 3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to start. We then typically recommend a yearly treatment for maintenance.
After the treatment, there is usually 2-5 days of mild redness over the treatment area, like a sunburn. Occasionally, the micro-channels created by the needle tips may be visible as small dots for a day or two.
Routine Optimus skin treatments have now been incorporated as an integral part of the RMA skincare paradigm. We are also seeing more and more patients request Optimus treatments as an add-on procedure to their basic skin care regimen and facial appointments.
